Address/Telephone Changes Please notify the school by phone or email to make any changes to students' information.
School Hours
- School opens at 7:30 a.m.
- School starts at 7:55 a.m. and ends at 2:40 p.m.
- Students will be counted tardy if not in their rooms at 8:05.
- If your child arrives after 7:55 a.m., a parent needs to sign them in at the office.
- If your child is absent, please call the school and notify us, otherwise you will receive a call from the office.
- You may also email the office to notify of student absences at leann.miller@henry.k12.va.us
- Upon returning after an absence, a note is still required in order for the absence to be verified.
Early Dismissals
*** Identification is required to sign out a student ***
- If your child needs to be dismissed early from school, we request that you write a note to the teacher as to what time you (or whomever) will be picking the child up.
- No child will be called from the classroom at 2:15 p.m. or after. You will need to go to the car-rider line to pick your child up after this time.
- If your child needs alternate transportation, please send a note to school with the child. If a change needs to be made during the school day, we request that you call the school as soon as possible.
Health/Medication Policies & Forms
Reasons to Keep Your Child Home from School :
- Temperature of 100.0 degrees or higher - Fever is an indication of an illness
- Vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours.
- Chickenpox or other contagious rashes
- Strep Throat - Child must be on antibiotics for 24 hours and feeling better before returning to school
- Conjunctivitis - Commonly referred to as "pink-eye." Your child may not return to school until a prescription antibiotic eye drop has been administered.
- Head lice - Children must be treated with a lice shampoo and be "nit free" before returning to school
- Ringworm - Children must be treated with an anti-fungal preparation before returning to school
Over the counter medication may be administered by staff if:
- The medication is brought in the original bottle by the parent and delivered to the office; and
- The appropriate form is filled out and signed by the parent
Prescription medication may be administered by staff if:
- The medication is brought in the original bottle by the parent and delivered to the office; and
- The appropriate form is filled out and signed by the doctor and the parent
